DonBosco-oct2016 Location Map

Golden Arrow's prospect generator activities are focused on identifying, acquiring and advancing precious and base metal projects with the potential for world class discovery. Golden Arrow seeks to leverage the Company's exploration exposure by attracting partners to fund work on its high quality mineral projects, such as Don Bosco. For details on joint venture opportunities, please contact our Project Marketing Coordinator.

Large, accessible property with multiple copper, gold and silver targets

Golden Arrow's Don Bosco Copper-Gold Project totals over 4,300 hectares of exploration licenses covering five distinct target areas in western La Rioja Province, Argentina. The property is at elevations ranging from 2,500m to 3,500m above sea level. Work can be conducted all year round and a paved highway allows easy access to the southern part of the property.

Shares geological and structural settings with other large mineral deposits

Don Bosco is hosted in the same sedimentary belt as Yamana's Gualcamayo gold mine (2.2Moz Au proven and probable reserves1). Furthermore, the project is located on a major continental scale NW-SE structure that controls mineralization at Famatina in Argentina and Cerro Casale in Chile (reserves of 23 Moz Au and 5.8 Blbs Cu2).

Initial surface exploration returned positive results:

Highlights from reconnaissance sampling include:

  • San Alberto Scarn Zone composite chip sample:
    • 11m averaging 0.53 g/t Au, 46 g/t Ag 1.77 % Cu
  • El Pircarda Scarn Zone composite chip sample
    • 2.4m averaging 2.04 g/t Au, 114 ppm Ag 10.0% Cu
  • Llantenes Sedex Zone chip samples:
    • 1m grading 25% Cu, 8.6 g/t Ag
    • 2m grading 3.3% Cu
    • 33m grading 0.49% Cu
  • La Ramada Gold Copper-Veins and Breccia Zone chip sample
    • 4.69 g/t gold (4m chip sample)

Project Geology and Exploration Summary

The Don Bosco Project includes historical copper and gold prospects and newly-discovered high-grade mineralized zones identified by the Company's reconnaissance team. Golden Arrow has completed several prospecting/sampling campaigns on Don Bosco to date. In total 187 reconnaissance rock chip samples have been collected from three distinct target areas: El Pircarda copper-gold skarn; Llantenes copper zone; and, the Las Minitas silver zone.

The property is underlain by Ordovician age sediments of the Rio Bonnet Group, that includes carbonates of the Las Damas formation and clastic metasediments (schists and phyllites) of the Cerro Cóndor formation. Along a major NW-SE trending crustal structure Mid-Carboniferous age granites and granodiorites intrude the sedimentary sequence and are presumed to be the cause of extensive copper-bearing skarn at San Alberto and El Pircarda zones. The intrusives also contain a pronounced sheeted zoned of fractures and quartz veins that host significant copper mineralization.

At Llantenes Cu-Ag (Au) is most concentrated within shears and vein-like structures which typically range from 0.5m to 4m wide. Disseminated copper also occurs in the inter-bedded shale-sandstone meta-sedimentary sequences.
